Background
UK Squirrel Accord formed at the invitation of His Royal Highness the former Prince of Wales. The partnership aims to increase collaboration to protect red squirrels, trees and woods by reducing negative impacts of grey squirrels.
Grey squirrels cause local extinctions of red squirrels through competition and disease. Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts the UK still has red squirrels, but they are under threat.
Grey squirrels bark strip ecologically and economically important broadleaf trees. Stressing and killing them, and reducing the health and resilience of woodlands.
Our partners and stakeholders work together to increase effective landscape-scale action.
