Help us gather data

Introduced grey squirrels cause significant damage to trees each year though bark stripping. With the help of stakeholders like you we are gathering evidence using The National Forest grey squirrel activity and impact assessment.

You can carry out a survey transect through any wood that you own or manage or have permission. The methodology involves walking a transect through the woodland while recording fresh and cumulative damage at regular intervals. There is a method guide and separate recording sheet.

After carrying out the woodland survey, please enter your results into our online system via the button below. Results can also feed into your individual woodland management plans and action.

Watch our webinar with The National Forest on how to carry out the grey squirrel activity and impact assessment method and record data
